1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Account Data
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, company name, profession, and service area location (city/region).
Device and Usage Data
We collect crash logs, device identifiers, and usage information through Sentry (crash monitoring) and Firebase to improve app stability and performance.
Location Data
We collect coarse location data when you set your service area, and precise location data when you use GPS features on the map. Location data is used solely to display relevant storm events and property leads for your service area.
Third-Party Property Data
To provide lead generation features, we obtain property ownership and contact information (including names, phone numbers, email addresses, and mailing addresses) from third-party data providers including BatchData. This data is sourced from public records and commercially available databases.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the StormTrace service
- Deliver property and storm reports you request
- Send push notifications about storm activity in your service area (only with your permission)
- Process payments and manage your subscription
- Respond to customer support requests
- Monitor app performance and fix technical issues
3. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal account information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
Service Providers
We share data with infrastructure and service partners necessary to operate StormTrace, including Railway (server hosting), Neon (database), Vercel (website hosting), Stripe (payment processing), RevenueCat and Apple (in-app purchases), Firebase (authentication and push notifications), Google (maps and location services), and Sentry (crash monitoring). These providers are contractually required to protect your data.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of StormTrace, our users, or the public.
Business Transfers
If StormTrace is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
4. Data Retention and Security
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Your data is stored on servers located in the United States. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
5. Your Rights and Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time by:
- Using the "Delete Account" option in the StormTrace app under Settings → Danger Zone, or
- Emailing privacy@stormtrace.app with the subject line "Data Deletion Request"
We will process deletion requests within 30 days. Note that some information may be retained in anonymized or aggregated form, or where required by law.
You may also request a copy of your personal data by emailing privacy@stormtrace.app.
6. Third-Party Data Usage
Property ownership and contact information obtained through StormTrace is licensed for use within the StormTrace platform only. Users may not export, resell, or redistribute this data outside of StormTrace's intended use case (contacting property owners regarding storm damage restoration services).
7. Geographic Scope
StormTrace is intended solely for users located in the United States. We do not intentionally collect data from residents of the European Economic Area (EEA) or other jurisdictions outside the United States.
8. Children's Privacy
StormTrace is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of StormTrace after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
